The Installation
The installation is the idea of Sextafeira Producoes. It features 800 polychromatic umbrellas that seem to float overhead as people walk underneath the artwork.
When you visit Le Village Royal, the sunlight illuminates the colors to create what can only be described as paradise.
It’s a work that’s dubbed the “Umbrella Sky Project.”
Several Cities Have Hosted a Similar Artwork Installation
Paris is one of more than 25 cities that have gotten the opportunity to experience the umbrellas in the sky.
From Portugal to Pennsylvania, the goal of this project is to bring joy and color back into people’s lives will promote places and surroundings.
It would be safe to say that Sextafeira Producoes comes through with flying colors every time a successful installation occurs.
The umbrellas can dangle overhead because of wires that stretch between two sets of buildings along the alleyway.
Artists then connect the top of the umbrella to the installation foundation so that the handles dangle underneath.
The goal is to have no two colors next to each other to create a breathtaking visual display.
One of the most stunning images captured from the Paris installation involves a puddle that captures the reflected colors of the umbrellas.
The picture gives you the ceiling layer, colors of the reflection, and a sense of history with the brick walkway all in one captured spot.
When you get a glimpse of the installation from above, you can quickly see how simple the idea seems to be while appreciating the natural beauty it provides.
Sextafeira Producoes placed some umbrellas at the entrance of the boutique walkway as part of the installation to encourage people to wander inside.
