How Does the Artist Create Moving Portraits?
Cadenas doesn’t use electronics or holographic technology to capture the transformative images that he displays.
His technique uses rigid, vertical strips to produce the desired impact for the viewer.
Then he paints a different person on each side of the piece.
When you view the work from an angle, then you’ll see the portrait of the intended subject.
As you walk toward the center of his artwork, then the subjects converge.
Their characteristics begin to blend because the visual angle changes. Then the other portrait emerges when you see the piece from the other direction.
Cadenas’ kinetic artwork often focuses on duality.
There are several ways one could interpret the message of the experience.
With the Monroe and Einstein piece, the message is something akin to a person having both beauty and intelligence.

Cadenas Has Painted Professional Only Since the Age of 30
Unlike many artists who begin to explore their creativity in their childhood before turning their work into a career, Cadenas has been professionally engaged in painting since the age of 30.
His first works were urban landscapes from his hometown of Girona.
Cadenas also used to participate in speed-painting contests throughout Europe.
Now you can find him in his studio, creating large-format portraits, spending time with his family, and the company of his dog.
