Description
This is a portrait from a series of three portraits based around things that make us human. The three themes are science, art, and religion. This piece is a portrait of Buzz Aldrin representing science and our desire to always see what’s over the next horizon. We are always the seekers and always the adventurous creatures. He is depicted here with a ghosted space suit over a profile of him later in life. I used the contour of his head as the moon with “earth rise” appearing behind. All three of the figures in this series have some sort of anatomical representation to emphasize the humanity in these pursuits.
