I'm Tamar, a crafty human with a curious and deep admiration for vintage things.

La Nouvelle Ancienne (LNA) started out as a healing and therapeutic hobby for me around 2010, eventually turned [super]small business around 2012.

Having been brought up in an artistic and creative family, LNA came to be a natural healing & creative outlet. It was the outlet that felt SO right and familiar, but I didn't know just HOW MUCH I needed it to allow myself an opportunity to reflect and gather my daily thoughts.

Through methodical and often-times extremely meditative, hands-on work, I can spend hours creating-- sometimes recreating things and come out of it feeling inspired - energized - rejuvenated. Even now, years later, I still get that SAME feeling leaving my workbench.

When I'm not doing work related to LNA, you can find me getting crafty with other projects or chasing after/playing with my puppy, Annie (also my rascal of a cat, Mardyston). As for my educational background, I'm a final year Drama Studies major, with a heavy focus on Communication and Theatre Production. While being a student, I've been able to maintain my little shop on a [very] part-time basis, by popping up at local markets and charity events here in Toronto.

I source inspiration from, and incorporate antique materials mainly from my great-grandparents' extensive button and bead collection (left over from their boutique atelier active in the early-mid 20th C).

My goal is to breathe "new life" into each piece, and produce timeless works of wearable art.

Each accessory is handmade and truly one-of-a-kind, using mainly vintage, reclaimed, repurposed, and recycled materials.

Through every piece I make, I aim to celebrate and spread love for vintage with others of like-mind
